Hello all, my budget is $1000 including amplifier. So the cans that caught my eye are Stax SR207, Stax SR307, and Stax SR407.
What I find confusing is what type of amplifier is recommended for each different headphone, and where to buy them.
Now I've used a lot of different headphones, and I like neutral, and I hate to say it, but head-fiers are right.
Since I joined head-fi, I went from being a hip hop, rock guy to a classical, instrumental, with some rock still.
My MS1i's are literally falling apart because I use my headphone for 8-12 hours a day (all day at work).
If I don't get Staxs then I will probably put my eyes on a different headphone, but the Stax seem really nice. Made in Japan, nice build quality, seem to sound good, and has been my dream headphone since I was a child, BUT.
But which model is the best value? The SR 207, SR 307, and SR 407 all seem like the same thing.
Here's a summary:
Budget: $1000
Amplifier: Technics SA700 Vintage Receiver, NEED a amp if I get a Stax headphone
DAC: Turntable and cheapo DAC
Thanks!
PS: Other suggestions are welcome!
