It was pretty much a given after the 212, 006t and 007t were upgraded that Stax would be following suit with their other amps, if nothing else for the sake of RoHS compliance. The first info of the version up has started to trickle in.

Allegedly:
717->727A
313->323A
3030 system ->3050A system

The changing of the numbers, beyond just adding an "A" at the end, suggests there might be sound differences.

Since they change the model number lead me to believe that this will be a major upgrade, compared to the minor one that the SRM-007t got.
Can't wait to get more information about these.

Well, upgrade prehaps, but a "major" one is doubtful. Stax's amps haven't really improved a great deal in the last 20-odd years.

^ Fair enough!
I guess 'Major' was not the right word. But they will most certainly change more than a few buttons and moving a switch from the back to front (like they did with the 007t->007tII).

Here is what got changed in the 006tA amp:

Selecteable Input Switches from the Front

Changeable input config. for XLR (there's european/japanese version XLR pin usage)

6 Relais at the XLR inputs for better channelseperation

1 6CG7 per Channel (6fq7 in old 006t)

Serveral improvemens to the circuit resulting in a freq. range topping out at 80khz (old: 40khz)

And maybe other things nobody knows about..

I heard a whisper about this from the UK stax rep. He said that there were updated tube amps comign very soon in march, but was unsure about the timeframe for solid state updates. Guess theyre here now.

I wonder when therell be an updated headphone?

I am wondering if the 323A have XLR input. If so, I might consider selling my 313 and get 323 instead.

Awesome. Thanks for the heads up, Carl!

That would be REALLY nice, but I don't see them putting balanced inputs on an entry level-type SS amp (I know that the 252A is cheaper, but the 313 still seems kind of entry-level to me...). I hope they add switchable inputs to the 717.

I think there may be some slight internal differences, but these are electrically the same tube.

I wonder if stax amps need biasing too............

maybe this is not relevant, but i wont like to post a new thread for this. Do you think analogue voltmeters are as good as digital volmeters for biasing es-1? having only used them in physics labs, i dont see much point forking out alot for them. Any advice is appreciated.

Yes Stax tube amps need biasing, Digital voltmeters are the way to go biasing an amp,get a auto ranging meter.You don't need to spend a lot for one.
