i have some money to spend on something from 1000 to 2000 on headphone equipment.
 
i have not heard all these i mentioned. i can go to a shop for the hd 800 and lcd3.
 
i am just thinking trying something totally different. something without magnets inside.
 
also i see good feedback on the woo audio GES + STAX 507 or 407. but that woo audio is pretty hard to get and extremely expensive. shipped to canada and with all the lousy currency will be like 2000 bucks without headphones.
 
there is a seller on ebay surrently selling the stax 4170 system for 1300 usd + 95 usd shipping which is about 1520cad.
 
senheiser there is open box for 1200ish or new for 1499 at headphone bar in vancouver where i live.
 
of course LCD3 is like 2050 bucks.
 
so need some help deciding.
 
i love listen to classic, especially violins. but listen to everything else like female vocals and even rap, pop etc.
 
i have the sony ma900 which is better than the dt1350 and mdr-v7 i just got for 70 bucks better than v6. also have the value headphone ad700.

this guide didn't classfy the 507 too high. and hd800 much higher.
 
i just want something to enjoy music and can impress guests. ma900 has done so pretty good. but hey got extra money to spend why not buy something better (if them are better). then sell the ma900 should be easy to sell it.
 
my mom doesn't know anything about headphones and always said "germany makes best headphones". i grew up with a big telefunken radio with some tube amp looking things behind it belongs to my grandparents. maybe that's why mom likes german stuff.
