It would be nice if someone had compared these amps both technically and how they sounds compared to eachother. I'm thinkin about gettin the 4040 or the 3030 system but in every review they say that the headphones sounds nearly identically. So the question is, is the extra $600 worth it?
I'm not planning to run more than one stax headphone. And if someone could tell me if the 303 and 404 hadphone look alike in the shape and design.

Old thread but still a relevant question for me. I use 313 with my STAX SR-Lambda-Sig and looking for an upgrade from 313. I listened to T1 but apart technically this sounds better (better bass, resolution) than 313 but I find it as too harsh for my taste. T1 with SR-Lambda-Sig sounds not organic, two much of details and analytic sound. So my guess that 717 could be the answer. I also look for balanced inputs.
