Stax SR-mx80 worth upgrade?

hey people, anyone can give me advise on if its is worth the upgrade from my current HD 555 running on a PA2V2 , to a 2nd hand Stax SR-mx80?
will the mx80 offer me something different from my current hd555? i really keen to get a electrostatic system but don wanna burn my wallet

Sorry to've missed this. The SR-80 Pro (which this is) only needs some EQ at both ends of the spectrum to be a killer entry-level 'stat, even though it's of the slightly disdained electret type. However, it's not really portable, because the amp that comes with it needs a separate 12V battery pack. There might be room inside...

...to cram in some AA cells, but it would take some ingenuity. Not a bad sounding little amp, if it's anything like the visually identical SRM-Xh.

So it's a nifty setup if you can get it for less than $100, but it's really a home setup, not a portable setup.
