Hi all, does anyone have any experience with the Stax SR30 headphones and SRD-4 energiser? I searched but drew a blank.
I've spotted some for sale at under a hundred pounds, with a broken lead at the plug end (should be easy to fix?)

I think someone recommended that one should always listen to secondhand Stax phones before buying, but this would not be possible in this situation.

Basically, a set of electrostatic cans + energiser for the same price as my Sennheiser HD580's is hard to resist!

Eek, replying to my own post!
Are the SR 30's actually proper electrostatics, or are they electret drivers (I think there is a difference...?)?
Thanx

Electrets. And never buy anything from Ebay with broken leads etc--I can tell you from personal experience they're expensive to fix. Also, if the lead is broken what else is? No, save up and get a new Stax electrostatic. Or better still be satisfied with what you've got and save for a new car.
