Stax discontinued all transformers in the early 90's so the only way to find them is used. 
 
Transformers + electrostatics is by definition a compromise so we aren't off to a good start but the Stax boxes a bit too complicated so some simple mods help.  The transformers were also never designed to deal with the load of current models so that's something to consider.
