Has everyone seen this?

Called sr-007a in japan, and apparently it should be out by late this year ~ early next year @ ~210,000 yen.

Pricejapan anyone?

Yes, pretty much everyone know about it.
There are even one (if not more) Head-Fi'er who got one last week.

Those who already own the Mk1 should perhaps instead tempt themselves over a 4070, TakeT H2, Ergo AMT or Edition 9.

Hopefully, someone have compared it and write a review on it.

My friend wants to go for Stax. But, he is biased on new 007mk2 or old model.

Man it is hard not to order a pair. But then again, I am happy with my regular O2's right now.

Most prominent differences:
* New earpad construction. More like the SR-Omega ones..
* More durable connection between cable and housing.
* Different color of the housing. Black, instead of the old Champagne one.
* Only available in black, while the SR-007 were available in both black and brown.

I've got both the SR007 and SR007 mk2. There are some initial impressions over on the Stax thread. If I had to boil it down to a math formula it would go something like this:

SR007 mk2 = SR007 -F +>B+>I

Translation: Omega II mk2 = Omega II minus Fart plus increased bass plus increased impact.

They also cosmetically match my equipment.

In the interest of full disclosure my old Omega II has developed some issues with channel imbalance and are currently on their way to the Stax hospital in California. The mk2 was compared with these less than perfect pair. Since this problem is a recent development, doesn't show it's ugly head until about 1 hour of playing, and I've been listenting to the O2 for several years I think these impressions are fair.

It also seems like at least one member may have a defective mk2

, mine seem to be fine.

I'm going to post some of this over on the Stax thread with some other tidbits.

Hey Spritzer do you know if the newer sr007-mk2.5 sound sig is going to be like?  Someone mentioned that its more trebly, and another person has mentioned that it will be in-between the MK1 and MK2.  Can you shed some light on the topic if you can please?

We also just put the new pads on SR-007 Mk1 phones. They should fit...

I'm still waiting on a word that there isn't something wrong with the first production run of the Mk2's and what the silver units will be from Japan
