Anyone here done the comparisons? What did you conclude?
I'm thinking of buying in the nearish future and need some help here. I have the Lambda Nova Signatures (basically = 404) and Sigma non pros together with an SRM-717 and SRM 1 Mk 2.

Doesn't matter - I'll be sticking to the 717 anyway. Let's hear about it. Information on the sound of the 4070 is thin on the ground.

I know of maybe 1-2 Headfiers that have the 4070s... time to take one for the team

Duggeh,
when are the Jecklin Electrostatics coming? I had and sold a pair of these (JJ Float/PS2). Huge dynamics, but restricted bottom end and were relatively bright. Either of the Staxen I have were better except in the area of dynamics. Have you checked outhttp://www.precide.ch Martin was very helpful there.

I compared thee 404's and Omega II's at the National meet, through a McAlistair amp. The Omega II's had an anoying bass hump and I found myself turning up the volume every time I switched from my 404's. Maybe I was looking for detail to compensate the darker treble roll-off. My 404's sounded more ragged and less refined, but more involving and with less PRAT. Both had significant strengths and waeknesses relative to each other.

I too am using the 717 at home and loving the 717/404 combo.

Some at the meet, suggested that the McAlistair may not be the right amp for the Omega II's. I would love to be able to audition the Omega II's through my 717 amp.

Jay
