Stax Omega II...dark sounding? Not any more.

David,

Just email them and they will build one special order. I wrote them and they told me it would run $895 for a 1m balanced pair of the Live v5. Give them a holler and see what they say now.

Good news, thanks for the info. When I talked to them earlier I was told that they couldn't/wouldn't make the balanced versions.

I guess the requests for them have been numerous enough to warrant this option. It DOES make the cable quite a bit more expensive though than the single-ended version.

Well, another discovery lto add to the cable comparisons: the W Ent NW is a little harsh at certain upper frequencies. Cymbal clashes aren't as we deliniated nor do they sound as good. These A/B comparisons have shown a slight harshness in the W Ent cables I had not heard before. It is not huge, but noticeable on most recordings.

It seems that these Z Cables have a very, very smooth presentation from the lowest lows all the way up thru the upper registers without messing with things at all. They are very good cables that I can't find fault with as yet. I am still looking to see if there is something they don't do well, but so far it has eluded me.

It looks like the wonderful W Ent cables will now end up on the chopping block like so many of their relatives.

...the saga continues...
