I saw that auction ealier, too. Funny thing is, when I saw it, the first thing that came to my mind was Jahn. LOL.

The same guy's also selling SR-404's and SRM-T1, with both of them also having the opening bid of $475.

Yeah, he's definitly out to make a killing on that stuff. I want an ED-1 but I doubt I'll get this one.

ED-1s can sometimes be found a wee bit cheaper on ebay germany. And only a wee bit.

This ED-1 is being sold by a friend of mine in the area. He's a great guy... I'm sure this is in pristine shape. He's replaced this setup with the latest Stax phones. He's a real Stax-o-phile, as he has both their F81 and F83 speakers which he drives with massive OTL amps. Has an unbelievable collection of classical vinal too!

I don't know the answer to those questions. He's an older gent and may prefer doing transactions in the more "traditional" method.

Do tell him that he should drop the starting bid a little, maybe to something like $350 to ignite the bidding madness

It'll be interesting to see how far up that sucker goes, then I can at least figure if it's even worth trying to get one in the future. It'd be nice, but I'm certainly not about paying crazy prices for old gear, no matter how rare it's supposed to be.

Hmm, for something super rare these are certainly making an appearance this week. One on ebay US (it got no bids), one for sale on Audiogon for $650!!! and one on ebay Germany.

I doubt a T2 would sound as good as an ES-1, so I don't see any reason why someone would buy one, except prehaps to hock off to rabid Japanese Stax fans at exorbitantly inflated prices.

I wouldn;t snub my nose at another SR-Omega poping up though. Next time I won't lose
