It must be due to the amp being used. I tried the 700 with my Jotunheim and it sounded thin and lifeless, while others say it sounds great with their amp. I'm certain that different amps produce vastly different results because I can't see how anybody with functioning ears can enjoy the sound that I heard with my gear

It's probably the "amp" in my soundcard, because I'm currently still using my onboard soundcard. My dac and amp are still shipping. Another reason could be me listening to the Sony mdr sa 1000 for 10 days before getting my Sennheisers.

Good point, the sound card could be coloring the hell out of it. It's supposed to be a neutral/bright headphone
