I know a lot of people have used Canare's Star Quad cables for DIY cables with great success, but they seem to sell for over double the price over here in the UK. I found a possibly suitable replacement for it at www.rapidelelectronics.co.uk ; it seems to be the same Star Quad design, from what I can tell?

Could somebody take a look at the attachment (it's a clipping from their PDF catalog) and tell me how it might compare to the Canare?

The specs are pretty close, even down to the number of strands per conductor. The only major difference is the stated capacitance (pF/m). The Evolution cable is 90 pF/m and Canare's product has a range of 150-185 pF/m.

Since a high capacitance cable can sometimes attenuate a data pulse, the Evolution cable could potentially be better suited to our purposes.
