I have wanted something that would work as a stand-alone internet radio, but had not yet come across anything. Hopefully this idea will evolve (at least into english with a kit available to the US)

A Roku Soundbridge will work stand-alone for internet radio, however the 'trick' is adding stations beyond it's firmware pre-sets...you need a PC on the network somewhere to do that.

It also will stream UPnP shared audio files as well.

Hi,

This is essentially a small standard PC running iTune-like net-radio software. It needs no server in YOUR end. What is really neat is you can connect to the interface from your computer and write your own radio listing (0-99!!).

I paid like 8500 Yen. 70 something dollars for you. This was an expensive purchase.

And, let me tell you NPR is like 1000X better than Japanese TV. Geez. Stupid Talk Shows and Crappy Tabloid TVs alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll day. Oh and the worst is the travel shows which only shows people eating ... Oh this is so delish blah blah. ... I am beginning to miss even the afternoon drama!

Tomo
