Unamped from my iPod and MacBook. For travel. I listen to rock, electronica, pop, hip hop, and alternative. Max to spend is $80 new. Any opinions?

v6 hands down. It is more of a competitor to the 440 or 840.

Extend your budget $20 and get 440s.
I listen to all sorts of electronic music ( Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, Infected Mushroom, AFX, FSOL) and I think the 440s are great.
The V6 seems to be very nice as well, and I've read that it has more bass, but the 440s have enough, and it's nice controlled punchy bass.
The Mids and Highs are also nice.

I prefer the Equation RP21 over the v-6 for most genres. Has strong but tighter bass and more natural mids than the v6. If you remove the foam pads covering the drivers you can get better highs out of them. Can't comment on the Shures since I've never heard them.
