OK the bowls on my sr80's are completley worn out (the grill sits directly on my ear) and the right driver on my Koss Quiet Zone (sucked before) is blown so i decided to use the larger more comfortable circumaural pads on my grados. I found some poster putty and stuck the grado earcups to the plastic back of the Koss pads and this is what I got:
The Results: I do not remember exactly how the sr80's sounded with decent pads, but these now have significantly more bass and lack a lot of the piercing highs. These do not sound anywhere near the way they did before. They sound much better than the way they did before and the comfort is definitely improved 10x.
Like I said before I am not sure if this is an improvement over good bowls but I won't be buying new bowls for a while.
