As I am typing this, I am listening to my pair of SR60's that just don't seem to be pleasing me as far as bass and soundstage go. This realization came to me after listening to my friends SR125's. I was looking at some prices online and the trend seems to be that SR225's are only 50-100$ more. Would you reccomend going for the 225's?

Well, if you are in Grado's school of music, why not give them a try.

Then you will probably venture to even more elaborate Grados and so on

if youre looking for soundstage and bass, you should go with rs1/2 or even other brands like sennheiser and beyerdynamics. i just didnt hear such huge difference in soundstage between sr80 and sr225/325i.

I certainly love my SR225s.

Follow the advice of everybody here and just go straight to the top. IMO, you'll be disappointed with the differences in money spent moving up the ladder as the difference are VERY subtle (you may even be disappointed in jumping to the top). Yes, you can apparently tell the differences, but when you spent $200 to only go up one or two notches with hardly anything worth noting, you may as well have spent the extra $100-200 on top of that and be at the top to see what the brand has to offer at its top tier.

My initial jump from the SR60's was to the SR225's. This move didn't impress me very much and I ended up taking the Sennheiser route for a bit. Then after owning a pair of RS2's I immediately found something more suited towards my taste for Grado's sound signature, but much better resolution than the entry level cans. Now I'm in love with my RS1's and really don't see myself venturing elsewhere other than trying some Stax. So, why not just go right to the top as others have affirmed thus far.
