I just had my SR60i for around 2weeks, seems like they sound very much like the in-ears that came with my Gogear SA52x. Someone here is selling his K271 MKII for around $120, is it a step up from the SR60i? Or would I be better off keeping my SR60i instead? Or should I sell the SR60i and get me a M50?

They sound fine. Out of the box, they sound just like my iems. I'll try to compare them now that they've burnt-in a little around 70hours. Does the k271 and m50 need an amp? I feel the sound of the sr60i a bit light when coming from my gogear. It's a bit fuller from the comp though.

IMHO, keep the SR60. They're an excellent 'phone that will last you a long time and give you some nice sound. If you need to be reminded how excellent these are, listen to some tracks from Clapton's Unplugged (or anything acoustic) or Metallica's Ride the Lightning. This is what I do whenever I become restless with my SR225i, and then I come to peace. I don't know, sonically, how different the SR60i is from the SR225i, but the most beautiful sound I've heard through my SR225i is Miles Davis' Kind of Blue SBM Mastersound.

Thanks for the input guys. Anyone here on the K271 or M50 side?

k271 is a very different headphone, closed, better soundstage and more neutral but light on bass and not as 'fun' as a Grado.

depends on taste: for some it's enough, but I've never seen anyone that says it's too much

what's there is tight and deep, but I preferred it on my stereo-amp with bass volume up.
If you don't expect big bass it's probably al right, but the only way to know for sure it to try for yourself.

How far away are you from Uncle Ken?

I'd say $120 is pretty decent I guess.

EDIT:
I see the K271MKII are in Roxas Blvd. Uncle Ken is in Makati. IIRC, that isn't all that far.

^M50 is more upfront than SR80? Wow. But I understand what you mean, the comfort and the bass has to be a lot nicer with the M50, so I agree that it would win for movies.
