SR-60's failed - Considering AD700's?

So I've had my Grado SR-60's for 2 years now. They've always sounded great, and been pretty comfortable. I even bought the bowl pads for them. However, they are finally biting the dust. I have to bend the wire a particular direction even to get sound from the left ear, and there is a crackling sound. The headphone wire has always been twisting itself, so this is unsurprising. They look great on the outside, but there goes my $70, as I'm out of warranty.

So I'm after some open cans for less than $100. I will use them for both listening to exclusive Classical music, and for playing PC games, though music is the top priority. Comfort is a big thing, and I want them to be open. Been reading these forums for a while, but I would like to know what you guys think. I have a Fiio E5, if a particular pair of headphones will benefit for a cheap amp (my Grado's didn't).

Thanks!

Have you tried contacting Grado about a repair? In my experience, they are happy to fix small things like this for a nominal fee, or no fee at all. Their email is info@gradolabs.com

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

Anyone else have any comments on the AD700's? I'm getting awfully temped, being a classical listener as I am. Comfort sounds great too.

EDIT: Changed topic title to reflect current topic.

I had the HD201's but sold them to my brother (my SR-60's are so much better). Sennheiser's are just way too tight for me. My Grado's with the bowl pads even get sore after 2-3 hours. M50's, not sure.

AD700 all the way, great for classical in my experience due to the sound stage and decent detail they give you the feeling of sitting in a concert at about row 10-15, and gaming is sublime because of the soundstage and ability to give you decent idea of where shots are coming from.

I would also like to recommend the AD700s

They are extremely comfortable, the wings spread out the pressure so evenly that sometimes you may forget you are wearing the headphones. I use the Ad700s with the Fiio E5 and they work well together. The Ad700s have a lack of serious bass, but the little boost button on the E5 seems to correct it. Acoustic and classical music sound really clear and detailed on this combination. Gaming and movies are great as well. At low volumes you hear everything around you as if you didn't have any headphones at all, and there is also a lot of sound leakage. To someone in the room, at moderate volumes it sounds like little cell phone speakers from outside.

Yup, I've noticed.

I've got my IEM's for portable away-from-the-home stuff though, and isolation. But if I get them, I'm sure my family members will kid me about them.
