Quick question...

Does a squeezebox duet hooked up to a Chord DAC64 offer SQ on par with a high-end CD-player? NB: The squeezebox is sourcing FLAC files from a NAS.

If not, are there any ways to improve the SQ?

My feeling is that the squeezebox should be delivering a bit-perfect signal to the DAC64, which in turn is as good or better than the DACs in high-end CD players...

I have a squeezebox duet with a HR DAC. Compared to my non-modded Denon 3930CI, using FLACs as the source, the squeezebox is slightly inferior sounding. Hope that helps.

There are a couple of companies that mod the Duet; Boulder Cable Company comes to mind(Store for The Bolder Cable Company). Welborne Labs sells an upgraded PSU (http://www.welbornelabs.com/modsandmodules.htm). Search for these in this forum and the SlimDevices forum for more impressions and recommendations. I am still on the fence about having my SB Classic modded.
