I've been googling the question but I haven't found the concrete answer that I've been looking for so asking here.

Currently I have my PC - Chord Hugo 2/Topping E70V with a GS-X Mini and a Cayin HA-6A.

The Hugo 2 has two RCA (no XLR) so anytime I want to swap between the GS-X Mini and HA-6A I've just been unplugging the RCA and swapping it which is getting annoying. I've read about splitters and switchboxes but I'm not positive if I'm looking at the right item.

I was looking at this switchbox for example
I'm assuming I'd connect the RCA from the Hugo 2 to the left side and I'd have 3 outs? Just really wanted to confirm this before I buy something incorrectly.

This is bi-directional so you actually have a couple options:
  • If you want to use 1 DAC with 2 amps, you'd plug the DAC into the left side and the 2 amps into the right side.
  • If you want to use 2 DACs with 1 amp, you'd plug the amp into the left side and the two DACs into the right side.
Since you have 2 DACs and 2 amps, you can even go with the "2 IN 4 OUT / 4 IN 2 OUT" version, which is $3 less for some reason.

I received two of the 2x4 versions today. I'm impressed by the build quality. 😄

Got mine in yesterday. I have my GS-X Mini connected to "1" and my Cayin HA-6A connected to "2".

Connecting my Annihilator to the HA-6A, I can still hear faintly hear sound when I'm "1"and then switching to "2" works normally. Wondering if this device is impacting the sound at all though.

It would be good to see how the wiring is done inside the device.
It is possible that the ground / neutral wires are connected together so there is crosstalk between the channels via the GND connection.

I wrote to Schiit. Their tech said to just buy a splitter, which I just ordered. According to them, there is no signal degradation. Although I don't exactly understand how that can be. But I am going to try it. if that doesn't work, I am going to try one of the switch boxes recommended above. I have Chord Qutest and I want to permanently. connect it to a Woo Audio tube amp and a solid state amp. That way I can stop playing musical chairs with my DACs and Amps.

had switch boxes in the past as i thought it was the right thing to do.
i think there is more chance of having contact issues with a switch box, this cant happen with a splitter.
now i use a cable splitter.
