Number 2 is easier. It doesn't make any difference really, unless there'll be excessive strain on one of the wires, in which case number 1 is the best and the straight pass through wire is the strained one.

Right, thanks Garbz. Strain shouldn't be an issue since I'm mounting all this into a tiny hammond case and pouring hot glue all over.
