I am tempted to try a better headphone amp with my HD800s.  I currently use the class-A headphone output of my DAC/Pre.  
 
I have the chance of a used Phonitor for a decent price.  Will this be a good combination?
 
What I love about HD800s: detail, speed, extension, comfort
What I'd like to improve about HD800s: bass weight, perceived body of certain dynamic sounds (difficult to describe).
 
The Phonitor would work out approx. $750 used, and I daresay if it didn't work out I could sell on without too much of a loss, but before I pull the trigger (which I would have to do without audition due to location) would you expect an all-round improvement?  I'm not so fussed about the cross feed aspect of the Phonitor, but it might be handy.
