So, I convinced my mother to bring me to Spearit Sound in Boston. I would have thought the store would have been bigger. I walked to their headphone wall, and I was surprised at how narrow it was. It had AKG and Grados (and maybe a couple other headphones), but I was dissapointed that they didn't have any Sennheisers (which was the reason why I wanted to go there!). So I put on the K1000 and listened to a russian overture, and was amazed at the depth, clarity, and the ubiquity of the sound. I then tried out the Grado 325i and the AKG K701. They sounded really similar for the song, but still liked the K1000 better... There was a nice salesman, with short grey curly hair and a low hairline that told me about electrostatic rigs. There were a couple of different listening rooms...

So has anyone been to Spearit Sound and what do you think of it?

Do they want you to call ahead like some audio stores do if you want to listen to something in particular?

Sort of. If you have a car, it's a short drive over, but taking the train (which is what I do), is a bit longer cause you have to switch over to the Green line B from either the Orange line or Green line E.

I've never called when going in just to listen to some headphones. If its a certain speaker, you might want to call so they could maybe set up a room for you before hand.

My dad bought his CD Player/Speakers there... and I never noticed the wall of headphones when I last visited. Perhaps I should go back, I really wanna try a pair of K1000's, even if I will never be able to afford them

Or you could walk to Hynes and then take the B line. The people at Spearit are really nice. I bought my speakers and amp from them. I never wanted to spend what i did but because of their service, i had no regrets.

I liked Spearit Sound, went in, tried out the headphones in my price range. I'd already tried the HD555s at the Audio Lab in Cambridge, so I went to Spearit for the Grados and AKGs. Ended up getting my K240S there
