Hi, I've searched and have been reading a lot of threads. I have a Macbook pro and am looking for a speaker system to use in my room ($200 limit, maybe slightly more if there's something really worth it). I've been reading about the A2's and AV40's but one thing I keep reading is that these are near field speakers and from what I understand that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something that I can have on my desk but still be able to be anywhere in my room (~3.5m x 3.5m) with good sound quality. I also like my music loud most of the time.

So basically my question is; do "near-fielded" speakers still sound good when they're used for an entire room?
