Like the title I'm looking for the best speakers and sub for that low price. Preferably under 150, my max for speakers alone is 100. If there are speakers that can produce a decent bass response that would be fine as well. I'm on a budget and need sound for my tv and laptop. My TV has an optical audio out and my laptop AFAIK only has 3.5mm so please recommend something with optical audio. Thank you.

Those bookshelf speakers are not powered so you'll need an amp. Do you already have an amp?
If not (from least expensive to most):
lepai lp2020
dayton dta 1
Smsl sa36
smsl sa50
If you need to use the optical output on the tv, you'll need a DAC to use it with the amp. Those amps only have analog rca inputs.

The dayton sub 800/1000 are probably the most highly praised budget subs. It has high level inputs so you need to pass the signal from the speaker amp to the sub and then to the speaker. You'll need to select the crossover point yourself (80hz is generally a good starting point).

For a bit more you can get the mb42x which has a dedicated crossover.

If you want a setup without a sub, the fluance sx6 is probably your best bet in terms of bass extension.

The bookshelf speakers you are showing are passive speakers. They need a power amplifier to drive them - you cannot connect these directly to the optical output of your TV or to your laptop. The best way to do what you are trying to do is to use an AV receiver. The laptop and the TV would be inputs to the AV receiver, and the receiver has powered outputs for the bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer output jack. You can't do all that for $150.

I ended up getting the Micca Speakers. I had to cancel the order though and made sure I picked up the ones with the crossover already in them. I got the lepai amp like everyone raves about for being the cheapest (albeit not best). My budget came out to be $150 so it all rung up pretty close to that (when factoring in speakers, amp, speaker cable, Analog to Digital converter, optical cable) so I'm all set. I was just looking for better sound out of my 42" LGTV and since the TV was only 350 it doesn't have great speakers. Thanks for the help. I'll have to work a subwoofer in later but bass isn't really my concern, just a little bigger sound for my small room.
