Im looking at the HSU HB-1 MK2 Horn Bookshelf speakers - $300ish a pair
or
EMP E55TI Tower Speakers - currently on sale at $516 a pair.

I currently have a Technics sl-1200mk2>TCC tc-750>Denon AVR-1612 with Energy RC Micro speakers but the energy speakers in a stereo setup sound lacking and I usually switch it to surround sound stereo.  Id like to replace the front left and rights with better speakers and turn off the surround sound stereo when listening to music.
Anyone have a recommendation?

You might also want to post your question(s) at AVSforum and AVforum.

I know that there are some people in the AVS speaker forum that are familiar with HSU and EMP and can probably advise you.

The Energy Micro center is going to be really weak to pair up with either of those speakers, a complete mismatch. You may be better off running a phantom center in surround mode once you get your new speakers. If you use the setup for gaming or movie watching, it would be worth upgrading the center, too.
