I need to build (1) a speaker selector box and (2) an extension cord for my K1000

Details on the speaker selector box:

This will select between two pairs of speakers. It will have one pair of binding posts, being the input. It will have a 4PDT switch. It will have two pairs of binding posts being the outputs.

I need some idea of how to choose these components:

  1. Where can you get a good metal project box inexpensively?
  2. What type of binding posts should I use? Decent but not really expensive.
  3. What type of 4PDT switch? Decent but not really expensive. Must handle speaker-level signals
  4. What wire should I use for internal wiring? Decent but not really expensive.

Next, I need to fashion an extension cable for my K1000. One end should be bare wire or spade lugs, attached to the binding posts. The other end should be a female XLR. Again, some basic questions:

  1. What type of cable? (purchase raw speaker cable by the foot?)
  2. Use spade lugs? Or bare wire?
  3. What kind of XLR connector (female)?

Regarding the switch, Michael Percy does carry 4PDT switches that are rated for high current and voltage, with silver contacts.
