I'm torn between the two. These will sit on desk as occasional monitors for Laptop, Record Player, general use.

You're depending on bestbuy.com for your information?  Let your ears decide.  No, really.

Nope, thats why im asking here. I like both brands and both models look good. They happen to both be available locally.

I voted for the Klipsch. Fair disclosure: I think I heard that particular Klipsch model at Best Buy once, but it was less than an ideal listening situation. I haven't heard the Energy model. I like the sensitivity of the Klipsch, but I am voting just for fun without hearing them both.

Also, did you know Klipsch owns Energy as of a few years ago? They are two different product lines from the same parent company...

I vote for ... neither of them. The PSB Alpha B1 should sound better for only $50 more.

If you want decent sound on par with the Klipsch or the Energy, look at the Dayton B652 (out of stock currently, ETA 1/31/13). $29 on sale, $40 regular price. Can't go wrong.

EDIT: See the bottom of the Stereophile review for similarly priced and better sounding options: http://www.stereophile.com/content/energy-connoisseur-cb-10-loudspeaker-measurements

...And if you start considering the PSB Alpha B1, then you are only $50 away from the Music Hall Marimba, which Steve Guttenberg found to be superior to the PSB Alpha B1 in a direct comparison. (See paragraph three.)

Of course, the price is gradually climbing here...

Isn't that what always happens with hi-fi? If only I spent $X dollars more...

Yup, that's the way it works.

If you had to choose between just these two - which would it be?

Well, luck decided for me.

Saw the Klipsch pair today at a Best Buy on sale for $99 down from $250.

...yeah, good enough to make me pull the trigger. Especially since they will be used maybe 10% of the desk-top listening time.

I've watched them disappear (from the website) from local stores this evening!

At $99, I think you got a decent deal. Hope you enjoy them!

I'm also interested in your impressions on their sound...

I play through speakers so little, it's gonna take a while for me to test them out with different types of music and at different levels.

I'll post later on when I have some impressions.

...from what I hear so far, they sound great at a room-filling level of volume.
