It's not the speaker if the speaker doesnt hiss when unplugged from any and all sources (i.e. soundcard).

Most likely, the hiss originates from your source (i.e. soundcard).

It could be just a flaw of the speakers, I used to have some Klipsch speakers that hissed no matter what was plugged into them.

You dont have to play anything for the hiss. The source is what creates the hiss IF:

- The speakers hiss when it is connected to a source.
- THe speakers DONT hiss when not connected to anything, just the power.

Nothing plugged to it? Hiss?

Not the source, the speaker's amp then.

I had those and I had the same problem and I could not fine a solution so I sold them to my dad. I found that it was highly annoying and I tried different sources and playing with the cables and nothing worked. If you still have a return policy on them I would try that but I think it is a general problem that these speakers have. Sorry
