speaker cables for B&W 704 floorstanders...

they didnt actually. the owner of the store (he's the sales person also) is really cool. he doesnt try to sell me stuff he knows i dont need. he had some cheaper cables that he sells, but it was all 16 awg. i asked about the kimber, and he didnt have the cheapest kimber, he had the midline stuff that would have costed me a couple hundred bucks for 10-12 feet.

i will, one day, buy the most expensive kimber kable or equivalent in the world, this i vow

Ditto on the www.latinternational.com speaker cable. I have used it between a carver amp and the bookshelf B&W speakers (CDM-1's I think) with good results. I will be using two runs of the SS1000 between my new amp and speakers as well. They also have the SS800 and a new entry level speaker cable. Worth looking into.
Old Pa: have you tried the new IC's LAT is selling now? The IC300. I am thinking about picking up a long run of balanced cables and will probably give them a try.

well, thanks for the suggestions guys, but it seems like i got my speaker cable problem solved.
went to the store that i ordered the 704's from because i was in the area. asked the owner about the kimber kable again, he said "didnt i give you some already?". i said no, i inquired about it when i came in to audition the 704's, but thats it. he walked over and picked up a package, it was kimber 4PR cable with banana plugs, 8 feet pairs, $72 or something. gave me the package, said "$2000 on speakers is grounds for good cable, take it, no charge". he had just recieved the 4PR, he normally gives them out when he sells speakers like the 704's and up.
they are nice cables, though i dont think i would spend $72 on them, real test will be listening. i might still get some good cables, since i got these for free, i can experiment with other cables on sound.
thanks agian for the help.

I am quite offended by that website an alligations it makes about cables that are hand assembled.

It is a bit biased and makes really bad accusations which are shall we say far fetched. Im not saying they arent good cables, Im sure they are very solid performers, but thier demystifying section is plain hogwash and an obvious attempt to steer any cable shoppers from 90% of the market to them. In other words they say tech flex users are bad, indirectly telling cable shoppers that their products are better then monster, audioquest and everyone else that uses jacket sleeving.

of course they are saving huge buckage by not flexing their cables which is not mentioned.

anyhow, regarding the kimber cable freebee, I say count your blessings and stop before you spend more then you intended on cables

Hello Slick:

How about an update? What do you think of your 704s.

oh crap, almost forgot about this thread, sorry

they are great, what more can i say? i didnt think they would sound all that great with my marantz sr7500 reciever (when i demo'd them, they were running off a rotel rb1080 200x2 amp). but they sound incredible. i like the sound right out of the box, but i'm sure it will get better after some more hours of break in.
the bass is pronounced, i find myself not using my subwoofer because it feels like i am "taking away from the speaker" (i'm keeping the sub for movies though).
i'm using my dvd player as a source (marantz dv6400) and i love it. i set the reciever to "direct" mode, so that the reciever doesnt do any processing to the signal and the signal stays pure and the sound is bliss.
i am still experimenting with the positioning of the speakers, whether or not i should use the "spikes" that came with them, whether or not i should use those port plugs or not, and whether or not i should get an amp for them (i'm probably going to get the amp, the rotel rb-1080

).
i am more than pleased with these speakers, they sound incredible.

this is not a review, if you have any specific questions about them ask me, i am more than willing to answer questions.
