what soundcards are best? obviously I'm limited to usb or pcmcia soundcards.

(please don't just tell me to do a search.. i tried that)

Are you looking for an external sound card, or just a USB to SPDIF converter?

If the former, there is this:

But I expect it won't have the characteristics of audio that audiophiles look for.
