I'm building a system for my office. I can't use a computer as my source so I need a portable solution. I have an 8GB Iphone. Are there any mp3 players that have a digital output. Or alternatively is there a mp3 with a kick ass line output? How is the iphone line out??
I will be using a headphone amp which I have not bought yet but can have a DAC.

So I need a source.

Irivers have an optical output, so digital. I too have an iphone and find the internal dac (for the line out) to be...decent. Its nothing spectacular, but it isn't bad. I use it to listen for extended periods of time pretty happily.

The iRiver H120 have digital (optical) out.
You may need to get a used one though, cause afaik its out of production.
