jjhatfield has the HD580: the HD600 is so similar, it doesn't make sense to get it. If he wants the 600 sound, just get the 600 grills and there you go! The HD595 compares favorably to these phones. Compared to the HD580, it's more upfront and brighter: so it gets to be more in keeping with the AKG series. Though it can manage to really rock out on a good setup.

He didn't. He paraphrased me. And they do sound similar. They don't sound identical though.

I've heard an extremely wide range of headphones, the more diffuse the range of sounds you've heard, the more you appreciate the great similarities there are between some designs. Designs which had you only heard those, you would no doubt be able to ascertain a greater distinction between.

I found the headband very uncomfortable at first. I opened the headband all the way and used twist ties to hold it open. This helped a bit. Now I guess I have a head callous and wear the k701 in their natural state.

Woha....Nice job there guy! Betcha it feels great for those of ya with that one pressure point on the skull some folks have, more then others of us. I happen to have a smaller to medium sized head and it never was a problem for me. We all have that in common ;-} That we're all unique ;-}
