It is compared to 49 times that number all clustered around Harman!
150 million people and possibly 200 million or more if you include the other conditions I mentioned, is NOT insignificant or irrelevant.

If you’re going to exclude such a large number of people, then your assertions/advice is going to be correct most of the time but wrong some of the time!

It’ll be right 49 times out of fifty. I’ll place a lot of bets with those odds!

Are you using the population of the world? How do you know they all own headphones? Do you think a not insignificant or irrelevant number don’t? If so your numbers are wrong some of the time.

Firstly, No, you won’t “be right 49 times out of fifty”, because you’re excluding those who don’t realise they would prefer the Harmon Curve and either just leave the tone settings in the default position or apply a “V” shaped response because they’ve heard somewhere it’s better or it does actually sound better than the default setting. You’re also excluding those who may apply significant EQ to achieve the Harmon Curve.

Secondly, you’ve made considerably more than 49 assertions and given more than 49 pieces of advice here on Head-Fi, so even using your 1 in 49 probability, I’d certainly place a bet that you’ve been wrong at least several times and probably many times!

Haha! This is so typical!

Indeed it is, but of course it shouldn’t be, because Sound Science and science in general is obviously NOT about just ignoring or dismissing the probability you’re going to be wrong 1 in 30 or even 1 in 49 times. If it were, there wouldn’t be science or it would just be another religion.

I talk about the loaf. You argue about the crumbs.

No bigshot, I discuss the loaf and the crumbs, you talk about the crust or whatever other bit of the loaf you’re interested in, and ignore or dismiss the rest of it!

I believe most is already said. This forum is heaviliy commercially oriented and people telling you that cables, amps, dacs etc. make no difference do not provide anything to the business model. If I'd guess, over 70% of the content here is around these topics
Agreed, basically the whole summit-fi forum is about parings of sorts. Back in the 90s big bucks were dropped on true-to-source equipment, the lowest possible distortion, flat transducers (and cables, power supplies, ..) with the goal to be audible transparent. Now that that can be archived for a fraction of the price, it pivots to having the 'right kind' of distortion, which only boutique builders can archive. That idea is crazy from a technical point of view. I work on a team that explores viability of custom hardware designs mostly because of component shortages, and the amount of effort and resources you have to commit just to get to the level of ICs that were dirt-cheap 3 years ago is insane.
Anyway, it's way more efficient to go the sales route than the technical route. FOMO is way more effective when not restricted by budget constrains. What better place than summit-fi hifi (or anything else 'high-end' for that matter).
