I know it is all subjective but I was wondering what is hands down the best sounding DAP regardless of normal firmware or 3rd party firmware etc.

I am debating whether to get a CDP or a DAP.

BTW: I need atleast 20gb but I don't really much more than 30.

I think that the iriver ihp-120 sounds really good and would call it the best sounding DAP i've heard. The sound is clean and large.

It has optical out too!

My iAudio G3 sounds awesome! But I have a flash player, not an HD model.

Maybe the Kenwood HD30GA9? I don't know, honestly. It really is a subjective thing. Some think the iPod sounds great, some think it sounds 'meh' (such as myself), and some think it sounds outright bad. The same can pretty much be said of many of the DAPs out there, in terms of opinions on them. I'm not sure there is some sort of hands down winner.

Maybe the Kenwood is worth checking out. I have no idea what it sounds like, though.
