I’m hoping someone can help me with this.

I had the Sony NW-ZX507 and used it with the 2020 CFA Dorado and I don’t like it.

I loved the ZX507 with the Andromeda 2020.

I am trying to find a DAP that will work with the Dorado 2020. I think that the Dorado 2020 needs more power. It sounded awesome with my Chord Mojo.

I have heard the Dorado 2020 with the Shanling M8 and it was fantastic.

It looks like the Shanling M3X has the same power as the Sony ZX-507. Is this true.

Hopefully the links I provide make you answering my question easier.

If that is true I guess I’d need to look at the M6.

I too have the ZX507 which I love for my IEMs but leaves much to be desired for full-sized headphones. Sony doesn't brandish the power output ratings on their product page, but supposedly its 200mw balanced and 50mw single-ended. The M3x has 240mw balanced - so there's a bit more power to offer (that 40mw may be all you need for your IEMs). I couldn't find anything for single-ended though, but I'd assume it'd be at least 75mw.

I bought the HiBy R5s. It has loads of power for such a small DAP. First unit I had bricked after only a couple months - hoping the second unit performs better. I've had my eye on the M3x as a potential replacement if I run into any problems though. That $340 price tag is pretty nice for the Shanling appears to be offering. Personally though, if you've got the budget, I'd go for the M6 anyways.
