Sony xperia XZ range audio quality

Yes. To get AUX mode is easy, and gives 7dB extra. Uplug the headphone end of the H6 cable before plugging in the phone, then reattach the headphones. In settings audio it should say AUX mode.

To get High impedance mode is harder. I've done it by adding a sliding volume control cable inline with my headphones. I slide it to minimum, adding 470 ohms to the headphone impedance, plug in the phone, then slide it to max, shorting out the volume control. This add another 5dB if you need it. Not an audiophile cable, but it works for now.

Ok I'll tell him that. So connect cable to V20 first then headphones. Got it. That might be what he did anyway.

Sliding inline? F inline remotes. lol Pass. lol They are said to add a mild amount of distortion to the mix.

After trying the k551 again extensively I can say they are like my first day impressions; very capable headphone indeed, but a bit lacking in mid bass. But that lack of mid bass creates this incredibly clean sounding presentation that reminds me of my etymotic er4pt but of course better because of the wider soundstage. Without comparing them to my brainwavz, I can really appreciate these headphones again but the top of my head is hating them just like I remembered. The treble peaks are scratching my eardrums so I had to pull the 16k and 8k levels down a little bit and they more noticeably pleasant. I cannot EQ the bass much because they do not respond very well and it can really end of ruining the quality of the bass so I ended up leaving it alone there. When switching to my hm5s, the bass sounds fuller and ever so slightly less tight, clarity still remains while being more controlled, and the electric guitars just sound more natural.
If aertus desires a very clean sound with wireless, I would have no problem recommending the k845, just make sure to eq the treble down a bit... The guy who tests phones for audio quality at android authority actually uses a k550 lol

S8 vs xperia xyz vs g6 vs m11 vs op4... It will be a very tough decision next year, the best audio and camera will have my pick!

The one turnoff I have with the H5s fanboy is the bulkiness of them. I've been told my K550s were bulky (I do not agree lol), but that's about as big as I'd go. From the pics I saw, the H5s def look bulkier. I just don't think I'm willing to go that bulky. So that reason alone is why I'd pass on them. But that's me. Plus my 2nd Gen H6s are even better sounding than the K550 by a SLIGHT bit, and much more portable and smaller, so not something I want to get rid of. Comfort-wise I think they're slowly becoming more so due to me stretching out the headband once or twice a week. I just never had any comfort issues with the K550 at all.

Well there ya go! lol K550 forever!! LOL Yeah aertus if you HAVE to go wireless, then try out the K845BT. You did just say you didn't want compromise quality though, so if you really mean it, then stick with wired.

Once again, I'm with fanboy on this one! My prediction is the HTC 11, but if the G6 takes what the V20 is offering and pushes it farther, then I may just get that! If the V20 wasn't a d*mn phablet I'd buy it now! lol Well, maybe. It not being quite loud enough is arguably a bigger issue. lol

They are bulky for sure but they are not heavy at all because of the plastic construction. Since you are about portable usage I can understand, you are just politely saying they are ugly, and I agree... Lol

The cleanest sounding headphones I've ever tried are actually the er4pt, k551, and hd800. But both er4pt and k551 need to make a few sacrifices to do this. But it is certainly understandable considering the hd800 is multiple times more expensive than them!

I love sony and htc's physical design/software ui so my eyes are mostly on them. The HTC 10 is built like a tank, I just cannot count on HTC for the camera department though lol

Oh the V20 is loud enough if you engage high impedance mode. 1.78V rms will drive most headphones well. I'm getting used to the size, even though it feels like I'm carrying around a 24" monitor in my pocket. Totally worth it to have something that drives my Sines better than my pono.

Well I'm glad they're not bulky. The K550 has more metal and not much plastic, which I prefer too. But it's not ALL metal though, just mostly.

Actually lol, I think they look kinda cool. I don't think they look ugly. I mean I like the design and look of the earcups, headband, etc. It's literally JUST the bulkiness of the earcups and pads that I don't care for too much.

Yeah, and the HD800 is ALSO open-back (which Sennheiser invented in the late 60s btw). lol I remember one reviewer made a joke about a pair of open-back headphones where he said "Now people at the office will know you listen to Taylor Swift". lol

Yeah man..........I guess we agree there too. lol Sony and HTC to me are the BEST overall phones. Now LG may be included in that too (if only the V20 was smallllllllllllerrrr!! lol). I love all that stuff too, and that they both have unique features like Smart Call Handling, Double Tap to Wake/Sleep, etc. I use that crap all the time on my XP, and did on my One M8 and Z3 too. Yeah, tank is right. Well the 10, which I had for about a week back in June, it's camera was DEF better than my One M8's was. It only lacked detail (that I could see) when I took a pic of something with words on it from far and then zoomed in. On the S7 I had and later the XP I have now, the words were still sharp and readable. On the 10, they were fuzzy. But regular pics were very strong. The 10 is more color accurate than the S7, as is the XP. If on the 11 they just bump up the camera a LIL more, move the fingerprint sensor over to the side and INTEGRATE it into the power button, and move back the bottom speaker to the front (aka Classic BoomSound!!), then yeah, I'm buying it. lol

Yeah but GETTING it into High Impedance Mode sounds like a f'ing pain in the *****. lol Inline remote? I spit on them! lol

If there's ANOTHER way to get HIM, please tell me it. lol I wish it was manual. F U LG! LOL

Well, according to my tracking information, I should be receiving my XZ tomorrow hopefully. The only problem is that its gotta be signed for. I don't know if anyone will be home. I may try and have it left at the closesd UPS store so I can pick it up at my convenience.

From my experience with FedEx they leave a doortag which you can sign and have them drop it off by your door the next day if they see a signature. I don't know about UPS though

Yes, Audeze Sines. They are not on ears for me as I'm not shaped like a trophy ;)

Another way to get HIM is to add a splitter and plug around 400 ohms to ground before plugging in your headphones. Better and I'll look into this later.

The V10 once routed could have the limit changed and that is on Headfi somewhere. Rooting the V20 has happened, so there's hope for that soon.

if only you could combine the best quality sound with Sony's unique aesthetic and get the best looking headphones eh? Yeah open back is definitely a big no in public space. Closed back is fine imo or use IEMs.

akg fanboy do you like a pair of headphones that are not AKG lmfaoo. Seems like I really gotta give it the AKG's a go but I don't have enough money to try out a big amount of headphones tbh so i gotta pick something wisely.

Also, rockstar the red dragon seemed like a good idea but honestly the price is off putting. I'd rather buy a sony walkman tbh and just having to plug something in extra is a bit annoying for me honestly. I'd rather spend that money on proper spaker set-up for my PC or a pair of headphones you know what I mean.

Okay here is an intersting question. What's the best pair of cheap earphones you've ever tried. Like 20 dollars but would blow away the ones you'd buy at the stores for similar price? I'm thinking DENON japanese import? never tied them

The Sony Walkman aertus costs $298 for the A17 I used to have. The Red is a $100 cheaper. But if you're WILLING to pay $299 for the convenience the A17 brings, then go for it man! But pick one! lol I thought you wanted to play off your phone but if not then F it. The A17 is great! I loved it! Plus I have a trick or two to make it sound even better vs. out of the box, which I think I posted already here but can again if you do actually buy it. Let me know what you do. (And remember, this clear hard case is a good buy as well for the A17 if you purchase it. It's the same case I had.)

Not sure man. Those Zero Japanese-import earphones I linked you earlier are what I would try. The reviews are very strong and positive for them, despite not being well-known. That's what I would get. I don't give a crap about NC or BT. lol If I traveled on noisy trains I would but Metra train by me is pretty quiet.

I think portable music players are a bad value and it is better to just pick a phone with good audio quality like an HTC 10 or lg v20.

The best headphone I have ever heard under $20 was the koss ksc75 but it isn't exactly an iem. Still beats the sound of any iem you will ever find for $20
