Sony Xperia 1VI, at last an audiophile phone?

Not sure what the Dolby setting actually does, but seems to make even richer/lusher/smooth and wider sound stage. I like it on for now.

Wow, only used for music for now, but standby for a phone is awesome. (have Stamina mode on).

Having done some extended listening with UAPP app and my now reduced options:

BTR7 > Xperia 1 VI > A307

The THX amps in the BTR7 just sounds that bit richer.

BTR7 wired still my favourite even via 3.5mm but the Xperia not far behind but find my A307 a bit flatter, less real/dynamic.

My Fiio FD7 Dynamic driver sounding better than SE846 BA out the phone for what I prefer.

With just these two IEM's now I can easily see myself just using the Xperia.

Now got UAPP app working and for my tastes, I'm liking what I hear very much! Seems richer/lusher than my A307 (listening currently with Fiio FD7).

I don't recall a phone sounding this good since my LG V30, but no idea what Sony has done with the optimising Audio circuit comments.

Also now used with my Fiio BTR7 via USB and that works as expected.

BT LDAC Quality seems more stable than via my A307 too. Battery a beast.

Works with my Sony BT remote, and even inline control button on a Sony cable.

Mids sound more forward

Thank you for the insights.

Did you have to max out the Volume with the FD7?
On my Xperia 1 III, the output is, in most cases, way to low.

*Looking to my broken V30 enviously. ^^

For my use case, the 1vi is the only valid option on my upgrade path.
(3.5 jack and sd-card)

The IE200 from Sennheiser is abit low volume on both the jack and Ifi Go usb Dac. With Xperia 1VI

On the Ifi Zen Dac V2 it is really good headroom and sound at 40-50%.

On Sony 1AM2 over ears and Sennheiser Ix300 its good headroom and full sound at 60-70% on Experia 1VI.

No, at about 75% for FD7 and 65% with SE846 is loud enough for me.

Have 512GB mSD card in mine plus the phones remainder of the 256GB, but 512GB enough for my music files use at moment.

Sony has stripped the Xperia 1 of some of its AV features, but does it make it a more appealing device for the masses?
Only thing stripped is 4K screen and it's long profile which was OTT on a 6.5" screen and profile only good for wide format movies, web browsing much better on current screen, and you get a massive battery boost in return. I big win for me.

I can't even see the PPI reduction without a magnifying lens, and you now get the 1-120hz variable screen with higher brightness. Also, longer telephoto lens.

I'm still moving/configuring apps so still using my S23+ phone (as main phone) until all done.

A good portion of music listening at LDAC 990BT with my Sony WF-1000XM5

PS, I tried a IV & V before returning, this VI version is a keeper.

PSS, I'm at 5 days without a recharge and still 32% battery, over 4hrs screen time and about 30hrs music playback via either Spotify or UAPP with mostly offline tracks, WiFi, NFC, BT all left on.

I still have great memories of audio out my LG V30 and sold it too early.

The Xperia 1 VI is nearest to that from a phone, but not the amp power of the V30 and only for easy drive IEM's.

The Sony 1VI could have some more power in the jack, but maybe some of my headphones is too demanding. But the 1Am2 from Sony and Sennheiser CX300s is very good on the 1VI jack...
Just wish i could get my IE200 from Sennheiser to bloom Portable, but either the Sony 1VI or the Ifi go can do this. I know how good this can sound because of my Ifi Zen Dacv2 .

The Sound quality in this Sony 1VI is very good, and its the best audio phone on the market, with settings for audio and tweaking.

No other phone has this, and Sony also is the best inventer of Bluetooth with their LDac.

And battery is the best of the best. And camera is one of the best, now also a easy to use but still with all the pro stuff.

Thanks guys.
Sounds promising and will bring me a bit closer to my decision.

Has the VI the same Sony house signature as the iterations in the past?
The warmth, mid-centric sound for this relaxed music listening?

I really like the presentation of the III in contrast to my BTR5, only exceeded by the Mojo2, which plays in its own league. :)

@psikey
I know you with the FD7. :beerchug:
It has a great synergy with the Sony sound, at least for me. :)
