I dont know if its because I used the EX1000 more, but these H3 are a disappointment for me compared to it. The sound is much warmer in the EX1000 and the sound is louder at the same level when plugged in to the Z1070 & Z1060. It just doesnt sound $239 at this point :frowning2:

Are you amping them? i have no problem of the h3 beeing less sensitives. but i do like the sound of the ex600/1000, an improvement for me would be keep the DEEP bass and SQ with better resolution mids/highs

im still on doubt this are an upgrade for the ex1000, maybe they are like side ways flagship from sony =(

If you are coming from the EX1000, the H3 would take some time to get used to. In the end they may not be your preferred signature. But I think $239 is an extremely fair price for them.

To put things in perspective, you guys in Australia are getting a good deal on the ZX-1. Maybe there is a forwarding center here in the US?

  Did it go that low?!
Amazon sucks, they need to ship to australia..

Will play around with it for some more time, but still it also doesnt have that 'industrial feel' like the EX1000 or even the XBA-4.

That I agree with. I think it's about on par with the XBA-40 but feels clumsy because of the size.

I recommend that you listen to "In the Pocket" by Dave Weckl on the Hard-Wired Album and then tell me how you think the H3 handles bass as well as drums.

For those of you looking for a more discrete, less bulky cable without breaking the bank... here you go...

It's a UE900 replacement cable sold directly from Logitech, ~$22 including shipping...

It could be your sound preference, Thats how I felt when I switched back to H3 from long listening session with EX1000, it was like Gezz... Awful... Bloated.... Bassy. A while later... I got you babe... Nice thump... Surround me now!. Anyway, I like to think these two complement each other by presenting the music quite the opposite yet maintaining Sony sound.

And my peers do prefer H3 and they just cant stand the EX1000 grainy shrill. Maybe H3 is designed to appeal wider audience afterall.

... any XBA H3 owners here ever owned a Triple fi 10?

I'd like to see XBA H3 vs Triple fi 10 sound impression(s).

-------

I used to own TF10... I thought this was the only IEM ever made that's huge and that sticks out of your ears until the H3 came to the scene.
My memory on how the TF10 sounded may be getting hazy because I traded it for a more analytic, mid-centric Sony 7550 IEM over a year ago.

I think I want another IEM that is a bit more on the fun side...  Should I re-live the past by getting TF10 (brand new & unopened on ebay), or should I just move on and get XBA H3 on amazon while the promo is still on-going...?

I was using TF10 on daily basis right before I bought H3. My very first impression of H3 indeed a "better TF10", deeper bass, clearer vocal and sparkly treble without sibilance that sometimes TF10 exhibits. It is still super fun IEM, I suggest you to keep the 7550 as benchmark. Or get TF10 as well to have three-horse comparison.

Well, audition the H3 first before buying, it's housing makes TF10 looks puny

Is it just me that has found the H3 jack connector gold plating has worn off in a surprisingly short time? I use mine maybe 2-3 times a week plugged into an extension on my desktop computer (Jack never moves) and I've almost lost the plating on the middle ring.

Could be the extension scraping the jack somehow - some of those extensions are pretty cheap and poorly made - I plug and unplug it from my iphone a couple of times a day - had them well for over a month now with no problems.
