Looks real nice but can't find any info on it at all, like to know if it supports FLAC and if it's coming to UK or US any time soon.

1. It does not support FLAC.
2. There is already a newer generation A86x that is available in western Europe.

AMP3 had it but they are out of stock. i suspect sony wont resupply them due to the new model that came out.

I knows I'm responding to a dated post, however I'm trying because your experiences would be of value to me. 
 
I'm coming to the party way late in getting a Walkman A846 or A847.  I'm looking towards a source in Japan, which of course supplies the Japan version.  Questions:
 
1. Did you buy a Japan version?  If so, what did you get and any likes/dislikes?  (Please assume that the Sony SQ is great--just stick with the surprises.)
 
2.  Did you see/consider the A85x series?  I can't find any 84x versus 85x comparisons.  The only thing I think I've seen is that the 85x supports more than just MP3 and WMA formats.  Not sure if true or not.
 
3.  If you did buy, where?  Buy there again?
