I had a Sony s618f and found the sound quality very fatiguing , it was so in your face , it was fine with certain genres but was quite poor with folk/classical/acoustics imo.
Question is , is the new S series any better/more neutral?

FWIW the S Series just has the hiss cleaned up a bit, that's what the word on the street, and here on head-Fi is.
