OK, I might be the last one to figure this out but you can create playlists on Sony players without WMP and duplicating files.

1. Go into your music directory
2. Right-click any file and select create playlist (eg, "test.pla")
3. Cut "test.pla" to the "playlist" folder. Not necessary but I do it
4. Double click the playlist file, you'll get that spunky playlist window
5. Drag-and-drop any track on your player (in any folder) into the playlist window

Again, I know I might be the last one to figure this out so please, no flaming.
Thanks

Very nice, my WMP is completely broken until I reinstall Vista so I don't have any playlists on my new Sony yet...

But it doesn't work for me, I don't have the "create playlist" option. Does that come from WMP?

True it is a little annoying. All my previous players had on-the-go playlists... although I very rarely used them. I normally create 10-20 different playlists in WMP etc. with 20 songs in each, then I have something for every mood.

The only stuff I am missing in the NWZ-A829 is star ratings, "next song" and "time remaining".

Does the 818 have on-the-go playlists?
