Just realized it's Australian dollars quoted earlier which converts to roughly the same amount in US dollars.
Hopefully it will be lower than that.

Saw there is a digital cable included so looks like this will bypass Walkman dac.

PHA-2 owners seem to say battery life can be an issue. Will 3 be any better?

We can only wait and see. I personally hope that Sony already addressed the short battery life and innabilty to play while charging. The pha-3 should mate quite well with the z7 but I highly doubt that it will be able to power higher impedance cans likes the HD800 to its full potential. Still the combo of zx1/a17 + PHA3 should approach if not better the AK240 for significantly less money. I am just glad that we have another excellent DAC/amp combo without breaking the bank. After all Sony should be very efficient at mfging the pha3 and we may be able to purchase it at a discount.

No concrete information about the battery life but the PHA-3AC does have a dedicated micro USB charging port on the right side of the rear:

Can I just charge the PHA-3 with cellphone power pack? Seems the easiest option. From the spec, it seems to tick all the things I like.

Does it have auto power off function / sleep timer?  I need a portable amp/DAC that I can use on bed.

Sony Singapore has lots of goodies as compared to Sony USA. Even lists all 3 PHA, countless headphones including the newer XB headphones. Also interesting is an unknown model MDR-S70A & S4-A.
Sony USA website is a disgrace.
