I only have F806, I rate it better sounding than Cowon J3. If you're looking for an IEM (particularly for Sony walkmans) I highly recommend Dunu DN-1000 hybrid. They sound fantastic on the F806.

I have picked up the F887 and it's my first hi-fi DAP.  I have compared it with the AK100 and I would have to say that I prefer the AK100 in terms of sound quality, but the F887 is around half the price and I much prefer the larger screen and Android based UI, so depends on what you are looking for.

In terms of IEM, I have the SE846 and overall it pairs well with the F887.

I actually use the F887 in airplane mode to save battery, as I don't really need to use the WiFi functions as I usually have my phone with me. With the player in airplane mode the battery life is alright and still not great, and I didn't find the player to get hot.
