I just received a sony nwz-a15 unit. I was previously using my ipod touch 2. Gen as my portable audio source. I transferred my songs from my ipod to this unit for sound testing, and it sounded terrible after my ipod. Less bass, lower volume (due to poor amp section)and less clear sound. Guys can you confirm this, or ist it just me.

Because i had a experience like this.
I was testing headphones to buy ,the seller recommended the senn momentum on ear. When i tested the headphones it didint sound good to me but when i tried the akg y50's they sounded better. I think most people would not agree this.

So is it just me not truly understanding high quality audio? Or is it really because of the sony?

Might double check all the audio setting on the NWZ-A15.
Maybe do a "reset" in the firmware.
Also see if the A15 is set for "Headphone" output and not "line-output".
Assuming it has that setting?

It was not in line out, and i reset(ed?) It two times.But i sent the unit back to get a refund, i will buy a second hand ipod classic 7g probably. Thanks for the reply.

Some units like that time to run-in. Maybe a hundred hours before they get going properly.
