How is this player?

When playing CDs, I feel the high is uncomfortable and tiring. Is this because the player only have 1 DAC chip which is optimized for SACD?

SACD sounds ok, but I don't have the 'right in the face' feeling as someone described. I did not hear more detailes compared to CD. SACD's high is smoother, but not alot better compared to playing CD with other CD player.

Im not sure how this player is in particular. I auditioned a black sony sacd/dvd player that only had one disc tray. It was bright and I honestly couldnt take it. Didnt end up getting it.

The reason you arent hearing the difference could very well be in your system. Your amp/cans/IC's/any other cabling must collaborate finanacially and sonicly to acheive the desired results. There could be one weak link screwing you all up.

The main reason though, is probably becuase the player is just not up to par. This is defenitly a budget player and shouldnt be expected to perform at a high end level.

Another reason could be just that the fact that your ears arent used to the player/cd's yet and you dont have a suffecient reference point.
