Ok, I know the NC20's are active headphones and the EX70's are passive in-ear phones, but has anyone tried both and can comment on their comparison for

- Noice reduction performance
- Sound quality

active noise cancelling usually is bad.. ex70 is much better, but if you can afford it, get the etymotic er4p/s for $250 or er6 for $125. NOTHING that i have heard of isolates more than these, besides the fact that they sound great.

Yes, I've read that the EX70's *should* probably be better, and that I should save up for the Etymotic ER-4's! I'll need to get my head round spending that much first (no pun intended).

Meanwhile, anyone got personal experience of the EX70 vs NC20 as I've an opportunity to get either?

I have both and there is no real comparison. The NC20 is a much better sounding headphone. I haven't really compared sound isolation between the two.

huh i must be confusing the nc20 with another headphone. sorry!!! but you really cant beat the etys!

I've used the NC20s on my daily commute on the train. The EX70s I really don't use anymore because I have so many better headphones.
