Since I've only got this digicam for a couple days, I figured I should take some extra pix... Here are some pix of the E900, comparing it to two MDs in jewel cases and two MDs out of cases, to give some perspective on its size:

Wow

So much smaller than my old big 'n clunky Sharp MS722! It kind of makes me want to get back into minidiscs

Possum: yeah, it's really small. Although it's just a player, not a recorder.

I also have a 722, and still love it -- it's built like a tank, has a monster headphone output, and it's a great recorder!

When you look at those translucent cases.....and how much space the actual MD takes up inside them......it's a miracle that they are able to fit the electronics, jacks, controls, motors, etc. inside the MZ-E900's case.

Except I got the fully brushed silver one.

Vert: I originally wanted the all silver one. Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice -- a friend of mine living in Japan got the only one he could find and it turned out to be blue (this was back when they first came out). The upside is that I've grown to love the blue, although I think the silver is very sweet. The bigger upside is that I only paid $220 for it including shipping from Japan

Of course, I'm hoping it never breaks, cuz warranty would be a pain LOL

Actually, is it just me, or do the blue MD players and recorders out there tend to look somewhat...more eye catching? I think I might just get myself a blue player or recorder the next time I decide to upgrade, and get away from my normal "just go for the silver cause it looks high end" attitude.

LOL, yeah, the colors do stand out more (do a search in this forum for the phrase "pimp red"). But the silver does look nice, so I wouldn't feel too bad...

That model looks amazing in real life, certainly stands out from all the others in a store. But i've never seen it in any colour other than brushed aluminum... You got a great price on it, when i was in HK, even the grey-market ones were $250...

I was disappointed when I got my R700 ONLY because, well, it wasn't an R900, lol. The red is soooo kewl.

However, I now realize that my R700 has a less fatiguing, smoother overall sound because it is blue. If it were red - that would suck! I can just imagine the shrill highs and boomy bass that go along with such a flamboyant color.....

Coolvij, I got the red one and you should know that the sound is most certainly not shrill or boomy.

Don't worry Coolvij, the R700 is cheaper, not that much bigger and aside from some features is probably made with a lot of the parts that the R900 is. If I couldn't have the R900, I'd be more than happy to have the R700. The R900 is everything the R700 is, just refined.

Yup, I second what Voyager said above

if you think about it, it is sorta like the Hd580 and hd600 situation

I went with the hd600 ( and mzr900) so I never have to think about * what if I just spend that extra 100 and get the 900 model*

Damn sony releasing 909 model so fast... only have had my 900 for couple months..
