Hi!

I am a professional mix engineer and I have been using Senn HD600s as my goto headphone for mixing work for years (as well as several sets of studio monitors of course). I know them like the back of my hand.

A year or two ago I used a client's pair of Sony MDR-Z1R and enjoyed them at the time. Bought a pair. Don't love them. I've burned them in and tried and tried to like them. I appreciate their bass extension but overall I find them a bit bright and harsh. I'll be selling them soon!

Can anyone recommend something with a similar signature to the 600s but with more low fundamental bass extension?

Have you checked out the ZMF Aeolus? That one is a good upgrade if you like the HD600 sound signature. If you want something more neutral though, the ZMF Auteur would be a good choice.

Thanks for this! I do like the HD600 sound signature, well, at least I know it really well, and that's 90% of the battle in mixing in headphones.

what is the sound difference between the Sony MDR-Z1R vs. the MDR-Z7m2? Is it worth the extra cost to buy the Z1R?
